Inuyasha chases after Kagome for the Jewel. Kaede puts a magical rosary around Inuyasha's neck and Kagome says the word, "Sit!" to hold him down. Everytime she says that word, Inuyasha falls face-down on the ground.Kaede tells Kagome that she's the reincarnation of Kikyo since the Shikon no Tama was found in her body. She tells her that she has to protect the Shikon no Tama from Youkai and even humans who have evil minds.Kagome is attacked by a group of people and she is taken away to see their boss. The boss demands her for the Shikon no Tama. She throws her Shikon no Tama outside, thinking that it would make him stop chasing her. However, he still tries to attack her. Inuyasha rescues Kagome, and explains to her that it was the work of a corpse crow, who nests in a corpse's heart and uses it to fight. The crow escapes but takes the jewel with it. Kagome tries to kill it with a bow and arrow. Unfortunately, Kagome does not succeed in shooting down the bird. The crow swallows the jewel and its body grows bigger.Inuyasha uses his claws to break it into pieces. Pieces of the crow, and the child that it held, both drop into the river. Kagome saves the drowning child but the crow's foot remains attached to his back. The crow regenerates again by piecing itself back together. Using this ability of the crow as an advantage, Kagome attaches the foot piece to an arrow and shoots it. As expected, the arrow flies directly at the crow because it is drawn by the crow's foot. The crow breaks into pieces but so does the Shikon no Tama.Inuyasha and Kagome begin to search for the Shikon no Tama where the crow was taken down, but they only find one shard.
